Legal aid billing

Evidence counts and schedules
Large evidence bundles take time to quantify. We count documentary and electronic material, measure audio and video duration, and organise the results into clear schedules that help your firm understand the material involved.
Working from authorised DCS access and other agreed sources, we provide supporting records for case preparation and billing. Evidence work can be instructed on its own, including where no bill is being prepared.

Worklogs and time schedules
Turn evidence-processing work and time information into a structured record. We prepare worklogs and schedules, incorporating time supplied by the lawyer where appropriate, so the work can be reviewed and allocated to the relevant matter.
Worklogs can be prepared independently of a billing instruction. Records of work already allocated help avoid including the same work twice when preparing later schedules or claims.

Taxation notes
A claim is easier to review when the supporting explanation is clear. We prepare taxation notes that set out the evidence and work relied upon, including relevant electronic material, and connect the explanation to the supporting records.
The note is shaped around the issues in the particular matter. We work with the lawyer to clarify the information and prepare a note where one is needed, alongside the relevant counts, schedules and other supporting material.

Translation and transcription
Make material easier to read, review and use in case preparation. We provide translation and transcription support for material such as messages, documents and recorded conversations, with the scope agreed around the needs of the matter.
Whether the task concerns written material in another language or a recording that needs a written transcript, we agree the source material, language requirements, output and timescale before work begins. This support can sit alongside evidence schedules or form a separate instruction.

Forensic mobile-image extract reports
Turn supplied forensic mobile phone images into extract reports your firm can work with. Processing these images can demand more memory than a typical office computer has available. We provide the computing capacity to carry out that processing and produce reports for review.
This gives lawyers access to the extracted material without tying up their own workstations or investing in hardware for an occasional large task. We agree the supplied image format and required report output before arranging transfer of the material.
